Seven-Character Regulated Verse ·Fragrance in the Cold — Deep Chill

    冻笔难舒墨半枯，

My frozen brush lies still, the ink runs dry,

    茶烟暖阁酒围炉。

By stove-warmed tea and wine the hours fly.

    千山素练云裁破，

Clouds tear the snow-clad hills like silk in flight,

    一树珊瑚月琢酥。

The tree, coral-glossed, gleams in moonlit white.

    疏影瘦梅凝篆古，

Plum shadows trace a script ancient and deep,

    清痕冷韵待春苏。

Their cold charm waits for spring to break its sleep.

    闭门忽觉寒香近，

Behind closed doors, a fragrance drifts unseen ,

    知是南枝抱雪孤。

Lone southern boughs cling to frost, crisp and clean.
